About Us

About our school

Charlton House Independent School is a non-selective, co-educational, independent day school where children aged 3 to 11 years thrive in our unique family environment. Our school benefits from being located close to the heart of Southampton and is uniquely situated within private woodlands and has far-reaching views of the city.

Our purpose-built school building is home to large classrooms and specialist teaching spaces, such as an art studio, music room, humanities hub, science lab and a large indoor gymnasium. Pupils can immerse themselves in a wide range of literature in our boundless library or access the digit world in our computing suite.

Charlton House Independent School offers a broad, balanced and creative curriculum. ISI inspectors say our curriculum is well-planned and tailored to support each child's unique needs. Class sizes are intentionally small to enable teachers to know pupils as individuals, allowing us to ensure each child reaches their full potential.

"Pupils' welfare lies at the heart of the school, with well-understood and enacted values contributing towards high levels of emotional wellbeing. Staff value each pupil as an individual and take great care to get to know them well. This is reflected in the close bonds between pupils and staff." (ISI , 2024)

We appreciate that a website can only give you a glimpse into just some of our school life and is no substitute for visiting us and immersing yourself and your children in day to day life at Charlton House Independent School. We therefore invite you and your family to come and experience our community first-hand so you can truly appreciate what makes our school so special and unique.

We look forward to meeting you.
