Forest & Eco School

Forest & Eco School

At Charlton House all of our children from Kindergarten to Year 6 engage in forest & eco-schooling lessons every week. This provides them with vital opportunities to connect with nature, supporting their physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing.

Learning in outdoor environments encourages exploration, creativity, and hands-on experiences that help our children to develop problem-solving skills and resilience. Our beautiful natural setting also reduces stress and boosts mood, helping children feel calmer, more focused, and ready to learn. During Forest School lessons children can expect to access activities such as building shelters, identifying plants, or observing wildlife, nurturing curiosity and fostering a sense of responsibility for the environment. Eco-schooling also instills values of sustainability and environmental stewardship from a young age. By engaging in projects like recycling, gardening, and conserving energy, children learn the impact of their actions on the planet. Our lessons go beyond textbooks, teaching them to think critically about real-world issues such as climate change and biodiversity loss. As a result, students not only grow academically but also develop into more mindful, responsible citizens who care about their community and the wider world.
